  Father's Day, For Witnesses or Not?

  there is not a single article that ties this holiday to paganism.

  there are a few about mother's day.

  Absolutely not. Haven't you heard about new light? Honor thy mother and thy father is so old light. Whose idea was that?

  Instead, let's honor our former Watchtower leaders in a dedicated museum space at Bethel such as I've heard -- photographs, documents, and other Memorabilia -- is so fitting. Such grand leaders have had a distinctive place in Jehovah's organizational history, far greater than a lone parent -- mother or father -- as those only are significant to a few children, grandchildren, etc.

  Watchtower policy history timeline, victim's action against pedophile?

  i'm working on an essay to release to the gazette but want to make sure i have my ducks in a row.. i wonder if someone can point me to a history timeline of watchtower policy as respects treatment of pedophiles, actions of victims and how they cannot divulge identities of offenders to others, phone calls (anonymous) by elders to authorities from public phone booths, etc.. the board understandably is flooded with the latest on the 26 million dollar settlement (it hit our arkansas democrat gazette this morning), so it's kinda tough for me to piece things together in orderly fashion.

  Does anyone know where, or what happened to Fred and April Fredean? They where our old circuit overseers in Chicago in the sixties and I was friends when I was at bethel with them.

  Hi hepcat,

  No, I don't know those folks. However, I was in one of your neighboring states (Marshalltown, Iowa) in the sixties. Our young (in his late 20's) circuit overseer, a Paul Valenzuela, was (I thought) from the Chicago area.

  Check out my Bethel (and CO's and DO's, etc) list. You are now included and become number 83.

  What bothers me about all the headlines that I've seen in that " ... Jehovah's Witnesses are guilty ...", or some such. I can hear the sheeples now, "Oh, this is just another incident of persecution because one of our members sinned".

  The fact is, it's Watchtower who appears to be mostly responsible -- holds the primary culpability. It is the corporation's leadership (not the rank and file) who dictated the policy that got them into this mess.

  I can hear it now from the platform. "Brothers, this persecution is evidence that we're so near the end. A 7 million dollar judgement symbolizes perfection. Jehovah must be telling us something with such a number. All it will take is a dollar from each of us."
